About Ghaniy
Our story starts in Wadi Do'an
Our story begins deep in the mountains of southern Yemen, in a remote valley known as Wadi Do’an, part of the Hadramout region. This rugged and untouched landscape is home to the ancient Sidr tree (Ziziphus spina-christi), a tree long celebrated for its powerful healing properties and deep cultural significance.
The Sidr tree
Growing wild in the rocky terrain, the sidr tree blossoms briefly once a year. Its flowers are the lifeblood of a centuries-old tradition of beekeeping, practiced here in harmony with the land.
Nomadic beekeepers
Our honey comes from skilled local beekeepers who follows the same centuries old traditional methods passed down through generations. Working with the natural cycle of the sidr tree, they harvest the honey without machines, additives, or interference.
This deep respect for nature and tradition results in a raw, organic honey that reflects the essence of its origin. The honey’s color ranges from light to dark amber, depending on the time of harvest, and carries the distinctive aroma of sidr blossoms, with a thick texture and rich, caramel and butterscotch-like taste that has earned Yemeni sidr honey a reputation as one of the finest in the world.
This isn’t mass production. It’s a quiet craft rooted in place, history, and purpose. It all begins in Wadi Do’an.
